OBJECTIVE

As a graduated computer professional and Linux enthusiast I am very interested to work abroad in an international team where I can use my experience and improve my lingusitic and professional skills.

Since 1999 I am working in the it-service sector as database designer and programmer, administrator and consulter in it-matters for my own.

My main interest goes for finding cost effective but high quality solutions using Open Source Software. Linux (and its derivates) is my preferred operating system. I am using Linux for more than 10 years for my own and even for my clients.

I am mainly interested to work in the region of South-East-Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Hongkong), Australia, or United Emirates, because of the dynamic markets and the IT-knowledge.

SKILLS

Currently (october 2006), I am evaluating the capabilties of the Pentaho (http://www.pentaho.org) business intelligence suite for the use in a controlling departement. The Pentaho bi suite integrates a couple of open source tools for generating(jfreereport) and presenting (jboss/tomcat) business reports , olap anaylsis (mondrian, jpivot) and data transformation (kettle).

In 2005, I started to configure a Debian based system which should replace a microsoft small business server, with database application, webserver and ipcop as firewall. I just tested a prototype running exim as mta, cyrus for imap samba, mysql and apache. The target is to compose a system which is simple to use and needs only small administration so that even users (medical practice, small office) with small experience could use it easily.

For the desktop I experimented with a self-customized Knoppix, Ubuntu and Damn Small Linux.

In the past I developed a small web content management system (perl) for the presentation of townships, some webapplications based on zope (python) and postgres and a Linux based realtime simulation of a satellite link (RTAI, C, C++).

For demonstration I also ported some MSAccess applications to mysql and zope.

During the last years I gained valuable experience in system administration (Novell, NT, AIX, Linux), troubleshooting MSOffice problems and networking problems as well.

For several years I am developing database applications for the financial service departement of a big car company (database programming, installation, maintenance, consulting, optimzation of business assessment).
