Korg DDD-1

The Korg DDD-1 was released 1986 as a competitor of the succesful Roland TR 707. Phillip Glass used it in his "Akhnaten" composition, and it was also part of Jean Michel Jarre's equipment.

 

Korg S3

In the late eighties Korg wanted to build a new machine called the S1. Rumours about all the extravagant abilities spread around but in the end it turned out that this S1 would have been much to expensive for the mass market. So the the plans for the S1 were canceled and instead Korg in 1991released the S3.

Pearl SY-1 Syncussion

In 1979 Pearl released the SY-1 Syncussion. It's excellent sounds were used by UB 40 and the Krupps, and in the 90s it had a renaissance with bands like Skinny Puppy, Third Electric and Oliver Lieb.

Roland TR-707

The TR-707 was released in 1984 as a successor of the famous TR-808 and TR-909.It has the typical artificial sound of a 1980s drummachine. It was used by the Aphex Twins.

By the way, the "TR" means "Transistor Rythm".
